Presidential Commission on Hispanic Education Releases Final Report Focused on Closing Hispanic Achievement Gap

On Wednesday, April 9, the President's Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans will unveil its final report From Risk to Opportunity through a series of events, including a national press conference call with Education Secretary Rod Paige and school event at Hialeah Senior High School in Hialeah, Florida.
The report is the result of an expansive, 18-month review and represents the most comprehensive plan developed to date aimed at closing the educational achievement gap for Hispanic Americans - now the nation's largest minority group. In writing the report, the Commission met, spoke with, and listened to more than 1,600 parents, teachers and experts. The report was approved unanimously by the Commission and submitted to President Bush on March 31, 2003.
